| A
Note From Heather's Perspective:
Sometimes it isn't until we take a good look in the mirror, seeing the
truth for perhaps the first time, before we can acknowledge where we are
at and begin to make changes in our lives. Horses are psychic, empathic
beings. They are energetically sensitive. This means they can think, feel,
and physically sense our emotions, thoughts, bodily sensations, and behaviors.
They are magnificent beings in that they naturally mirror these energy
patterns back to us.
Like mother earth, horses are energy masters. They have the ability to
ground and absorb the energy around them through their energy fields by
naturally being in the present moment. They can help us release deep-seated
issues if we are willing. The horses help us on all levels of our being:
physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. All we have to do
is be present with ourselves, aware of what is happening inside of us.
As we maintain this awareness, pain and trauma are lifted out of our energy
fields, our bodies are grounded with the earth for greater stability and
health, and insights and guidance for how to live our lives are revealed
from within. This is all done within the safe space of the horses' unconditional,
loving presence.
How
They Do It:
Horses' psychic and empathic abilities come from being prey animals in
the wild. In order to survive, they are always in the present moment,
instinctually knowing whether a potential predator is a threat. Like with
all animal predators, horses sense our energy and the different levels
of our emotions. If we are not aware of our emotions or behaviors, we
are not containing them. This causes a leaking of energy. The horses will
then feel the impact of these emotional states and dysfunctional behaviors.
Thus, they will react accordingly. Horses will reflect to us our emotional/mental/behavioral
states in their behaviors. For example, if we have uncontained grief,
a horse will respond by lowering his head to the ground and disconnecting
from us. Someone who is pushy or inpatient will have challenges getting
close enough to halter or interact with a horse, because of the energy
they are sending out.
In this way, if we
want healthy interactions with our fellow equines, we must start by being
genuine with ourselves and our true feelings. Allowing this part of ourselves
to come through, sometimes for the first time, in the presence of these
nonjudgmental beings, is what kick starts our healing.
The
Choice is Ours:
If we choose to look within, becoming aware, we can contain our emotional/mental/behavioral
states so the horses don't have to act out our issues. Through our awareness,
we begin to shift these issues, peeling off the layers of pain, trauma,
belief systems, and thoughts that led to our problems in the first place.
As we continue to work with the horses we will notice that they can't
hide or repress their emotions, as we do. They are fully present with
what is going on inside, in every moment. Their authenticity and presence
is role modeled to us, and we can use this strength for a greater depth
of experience in every aspect of our lives.
I will assist you
in your awareness every step of the way with the horses for safety. I
will determine what kind of interaction you will have. For those who are
afraid of horses or who have never interacted with them, we will start
outside their gate or pasture. For those with some or a lot of experience,
we may start with grooming, haltering, or leading a horse. Sometimes the
most powerful sessions are spent just being with a horse, doing nothing,
which can be everything.
Who
it Helps:
Horses can help anyone heal, and kids too! However, for those with chronic
issues of abuse, any kind of trauma, PTSD, alcoholism/drug abuse, and
eating disorders, horses can help you become aware of and release toxic
emotions stored in the body over a period of time. This is done safely
through grounding with nature and the horses' container of unconditional
love. This work is not a substitute for treatment with a licensed medical
professional in cases of physical, mental, and emotional health problems.
If
this type of healing calls to you, please contact Heather by phone or
e-mail
for questions or to schedule an appointment. No horse experience is required.
